Autumn term 2008

What a super start! We are loving being Big and Little Acorns!

We visited Topsham Museum where Ryan found a picture of his Great Uncle.

This term we have been exploring the wild and wonderful world of dinosaurs. Including the creation of an amazing chicken wire and modroc velociraptor- called Vernon.

We have crated a dinosaur museum, excavated fossils, made a volcano, put bones together and been palaeontologists on dinosaur hunts!

Look out for a Family Learning Workshop this term. Every other Wednesday we will be hosting the Once Upon a Wednesdays again- a chance for families to come in during school time, share experiences, help us make resources and generally join in.

With the children, we will be developing our learning zones, always including a home corner, book sharing area, writing zone, workshop, curiosity/ discovery area, maths zone, construction, painting and printing areas and that's just inside!

Outside we will have all the opportunities listed above plus the chance to run, jump, skip, climb, hide, scoot, hammer, saw and get very messy while exploring.

As ever, we will build on the children's interests to provide focus to the learning. Alongside, we will be making a fun and practical start to our phonics program, work on early mathematical ideas and develop social skills such as working in a large group.
