Admissions
Foundation Stage Unit Children are admitted to the Foundation Stage Unit the term after their third birthday. Places are allocated by an admissions panel on behalf of the school's governing body. This panel meets once a term and you will be notified of its decision the term before your child would be due to start. Further details can be obtained from the school.
There is no automatic right of entry into the main school from the Foundation Stage Unit

Reception (final year of the Foundation Stage Unit)
Devon Local Education Authority's policy for admission to school is that children who will turn 5 between:
- 1st September and 29th February are admitted in September
- 1st March and 31st August are admitted in January
Admission to the rest of the school
Children are admitted to the main school according to availabilty of places and the criteria of the LEA. Places are allocated by the LEA and parents are notified in the March before they are due to start whether or not there is a place available.
Children transfer at the age of 11 to one of the Exeter secondary schools at the begnning of the Autumn term. Details about the transfer arrangements are sent by Devon County Council to parents during the Autumn term before their child is due to transfer to secondary school.
Parents are welcome to visit The Topsham School before registering their child for admission by arrangement with the Headteacher who will be pleased to accompany them.
