We make sure that the transition from the Foundation Stage Unit into Year 1 is a smooth and natural one. 'Planned play' which happens every Wednesday morning, is a special time where children from Year 1 mix with those from the FSU and Year 2. The children can explore all there is to offer in each classroom and spend time with the staff from the other year groups. We all LOVE planned play! closely with the FSU and Year 2 teams. The children learn through play and exploration. We make full use of the outside area and offer the children a wide range of activities. Details of the Year 1 teaching and support staff can be found here. We have areas for role play, independent writing, construction, reading and a design workshop. Every class has an interactive whiteboard. We use it for whole class and small group teaching. The children also use it independently.
